I didn't test it for a while, so my statements may be wrong...

When a PS2 disc is inserted :
The MBR checks the validity of the PS2 disc. If the PS2 disc is valid, the MBR execute it (without loading the PSBBN kernel loader).

I dont know what the PSBBN does when you insert a PS2 disc. It seems to be similar to the launch of HDD applications (screen with 2 lines of text, loader decryption ?, black screen, LoadExecPS2).

Thanks for your detailed report. Very strange. The HDD OSD is definately not "copy protected". Generally, when the HDD continue spinning and the HDDOSD is not shown, it means the HDD uses an incompatible DMA mode, or the jumper setting is incorrect.
I have a pile of old HDDs. I'll test OSD110UA4_ULE442B.IMG in all of them to see if it happens.

Did you try DIRECT_ULE442B.IMG ? In theory it starts uLaunchELF after the "Sony Computer Entertainment" intro.

я сейчас попробую переставить перемычку и запустить HDD OSD еще раз
не это я еще не пробовал,планирую протестировать позже

я только что попробвал все положения перемычек на HDD но HDD OSD все равно не запускается,либо черный экран либо жесткий диск просто не раскручивается
возможно поэтой же причине зависают ваши установленные приложения при попытке их запустить? можно ли как то исправить запуск диска и приложений из меню PSBBN?

Mmm, maybe a problem with the ATA driver:Boredom:. This dump is based on the Hacked Build A4 of the HDDOSD. In Hacked Build A4, I've patched the ATA driver for those who don't have a modchip.
I'll do a dump of the Hacked Build A3, which is not ATAD-patched (files are region free, but the ATA driver is original).

If the PS2 CD/DVD runs at console startup but fails to run in the PSBBN, it confirms that the PSBBN is "keyed" for a unique console.
The only way to "sign" the PSBBN for your console is to install the PSBBN from a cracked Utility Disc.
My PSBBN installations are made from the Hacked Build A2 CD-ROM. Everything work fine to me, PS2 CD/DVD and applications run after the infamous screen with 2 lines, because the installation was "signed" for my console by the installation program of the cracked CD-ROM.
The MAJOR problem is that the Hacked Build A2 CD-ROM still refuses too many HDDs (red screen during the installation).

а ты можешь исправить эту проблему? и почему у меня тогда жесткий который работал исправно с диском установки HDD OSD и с самим HDD OSD при попытке установить на него PSBBN с вашего диска попросту во время установки в 1м пункте из 2х на 49% выдает красный экран с ошибкой и не устаналивается до конца? ведь диск HDD OSD а нем работает и установка вроде бы начинаетcя с PSBBN устаночного диска но по какой то причине просто прерывается и не доходит до конца ::diablo:::IreFulTwo::IreFulThree:Furious1

I really don't understand why the installation fails at step 1/2 49%. There are HDD verifications (HDD total space/HDD available free space), but these verifications are performed in the beginning of the installation.


Do you mean the HDD Utility Disc Version 1.10 (Hacked Build A4) works with your HDD and makes successful installation (no red screen) ?

нет,я устаналивал HDD OSD еще до того как вы выложили этот образ,я не помню название образа но помню что там была сборка PSBBN HDD Utility Disc 1.10 в одном образе,он еще не запускался напрямую,приходилось запускать установочные файлы через UlaunchELF зайдя в содержимое диска

So I finally tested OSD110UA4_ULE442B.IMG with my old HDDs.

Working :
- Seagate ST340823A (Official HDD)
- ExcelStor J680
- Fujitsu MPF3102AT
- Fujitsu MPC3064AT
- Fujitsu MPD3064AT

Not working :
- Samsung SV0432D
- Maxtor 90644D3
- Maxtor 90432D2
- Maxtor 90320D2

My not working HDDs do the same thing you have reported. Slow startup and no HDDOSD.

EDIT : I suspect my Maxtor drives are too small to handle temporary partitions.

я надеюсь на скорейшее исправление работы устаночного диска PSBBN что бы он работал с как можно большим количеством жестких дисков,а пока мне остается только ждать -_-

I think I have a *complicated* solution :

1) Write BBN32A2_BBS3_DVD302D_HDD110U_BBN32A2.IMG to your HDD;

2) Install the PSBBN with Hackchip's disc;

3) Follow my instructions to restore my application partitions (tutorial How to restore unaltered partitions/games ?).

4) Follow Richie's tutorial to hexedit the MBR and replace the files using uLe_hacked, but use my files (ripped from the Hacked Build A2) :


In theory :
- PSBBN will boot after the PlayStation 2 logo, because of my hacked files
- Applications will run because the PSBBN installation is signed for your console by Hackchip's CD.
