PS2 HDD Dumps

How to write a dump to your HDD ?

WARNING : This will permanently overwrite the contents of your HDD. Follow this tutorial at your own risks.

- Download and install HDD Raw Copy Tool,
- Download and extract a dump,
- Connect your PS2 HDD to your computer,
- Run HDD Raw Copy Tool.

Before you write the dump, you can make a partial or full backup of your HDD, in case you want to restore it later (the procedure is not detailed here).

1) Here we have to select the SOURCE. Click FILE and select the dump file (for example : PSBBN032_A2_KHNHDD.IMG);
2) Click continue...

1) Here we have to choose the TARGET HDD. Select your PS2 HDD in the list. MAKE SURE IT IS YOUR PS2 HDD AND NOT ONE OF YOUR PC HDDS.
2) Click continue...

1) Click continue;
2) The "warning" message appears. Make sure it shows the name of your PS2 HDD then click Yes

Once the copy is over and successful, the log says "Task complete" and obviously "100% complete". You can close HDD Raw Copy Tool, remove your HDD and put it in your PS2.

How to restore unaltered partitions/games ?

After you wrote the dump to your PS2 HDD, your partitions become invisible/unreadable.
If they are still physically present (not overwritten by the dump), they can be retreived, by fixing the table of contents.

- Download and extract WinHIIP,
- Connect your PS2 HDD to your computer,
- Run WinHIIP.

That's all for now. Soon I'm gonna build some HDD Software/BBN 0.30 based installations, and direct boot of ESR for small HDD users.

I don't know what differences between 0.30 and 0.32 are. Some clue here :

Other changes might be related to Linux bugfixes/improvements I guess...

I can't inject Richie's files in my HDD, so I can't publish an English translated dump of the PSBBN=(. I'll investigate this later.

OK. I've been making a dump of the HDDOSD + uLaunchELF 4.42b, but my IDE to USB interface stopped working. It doesn't detect my HDD anymore:IreFulThree:. What a damn piece of sh*t ! I can't dump anything nowFurious1.

у меня возникла проблема,я записал новый дамп из 10го сообщения темы и PSBBN работает,но при попытке запустить любое из установленных тобой приложений появлется маленькое синее окошко с 2мя строчками по японски(в 2й строчке упоминается Playstation 2) и приставка виснет и больше не на что не реагирует,не одно из приложений не запускается :IreFulTwo:Furious1

да он,сам PSBBN работает но все установленные приложения виснут,продублируй ссылку в следующем посту если будешь перезаливать,я протестирую еще раз =)

I've retested "BBN32A2_BBS3_DVD302D_HDD110U_BBN32A2.IMG" in an unofficial HDD. Every application worked fine. I don't know why it doesn't work in your console :( . I also verified the files, they are all region-free and ATAD patched as well.

Well I think it concerns only licensed games (like Final Fantasy XI), which can't be cloned from an HDD to another HDD and booted, because of the DNAS crypto and the purification system. Maybe I'm wrong...

я только что попробовал еще раз перезаписать дамп на мой HDD но это ничего не изменило.Так что надо как то решать проблему.иначе эти установленные приложения не у кого не будут работать и дампы окажутся бесполезны в том смысле что запустить установленный софт не удастся =)

похоже что именно так и есть,не зря же в википедии написанно что приложения и игры установленные на одной PS2 не будут работать на другой без их переустановки =)
