The disc was packaged with the European DVD Remote Control (SCPH-10172). It's designed to install the version 2.10E of the DVD Player on PS2 memory cards.

On the dark side of the force, this disc (like other Sony Utility Discs) is also known to be one of the most over-protected things made for the PlayStation 2, featuring MagicGate encryption, massive CD Checks, XORed proggies and stuff...
For educational purpose (also for the challenge, for the fun of it, for great Justice or for whatever you want), copy protections have been bypassed in some hazardous ways.

Before you download/burn it, you must know that it does NOT work on Russian consoles :( . It's only for European console (MagicGate is racist).

TROUBLESHOOTING (IF THE INSTALLATION FAILS) :
- If you have a modchip, turn it OFF during the installation.
- If you have a previous installation of the DVD Player or any "BEEXEC-DVDPLAYER" folder on your Memory Card, delete it manually then try again.
- If you are using a 3rd-party Memory Card (non-Sony), try with an official Sony MC.
- If your console is not an European Console, you can not install this firmware.
- Clean the disc.
- Burn another CD-R.

DOWNGRADE PROCEDURE (WHEN PS2'S DVD PLAYER IS HIGHER THAN V2.10) :
After installing the DVD Player 2.10E, locate the file "dvdplayer.id" in the folder "BEEXEC-DVDPLAYER" of your Memory Card. Open it with a text editor.
You should see "2.10E" inside. Replace "2.10E" with "9.99E".
This will force the console to execute the firmware you've installed in your MC (the 2.10E) instead of the one contained in the console's erom.
You can do this with uLaunchELF.
